bmi tests, are they
inconclusive?
As a dedicated weight trainer of over twenty
years, the recent news that BMI testing may be
inconclusive comes as no great surprise.
Although an excellent process in itself, BMI
testing cannot take into account the subjects
muscle to fat ratio. 90 percent of bodybuilders
for example, would have to be labelled as obese.
This clearly illustrates the difficulty in
determining a societies collective state of
health/fitness. Ultimately, the individual has
to take responsibility for their physicality. we
shouldnt need a machine or nutritional expert to
know consistent weight gain without exercise
spells trouble. BMI tests then, must be used to
gauge progress, rather than be held up as the
last word.
Gym Odyssey News
New section
dedicated to the young
As usual, Gym Odyssey would like to welcome our
new members, and say hi to those already
breathing life into the site. Within the next
two weeks we will be introducing a new section
dedicated to the young[13-19]. While teenage
years are often looked upon as the best of a
life, there are those among us not so fortunate.
With this in mind, the new section will offer
support on as many levels as possible. Above all
else though, the section will be a celebration
of the young, and their potential to change the
world for the better. On a more serious note,
Gym Odyssey is glad to offer its support for the
safe return of little Madeleine McCann. She is
in our thoughts.
